• EcoVadis is a leading and independent industry monitor
• EcoVadis’ Silver Medal confirms our ongoing efforts in sustainability
• The report recognises our renewable energy, recycling procedures, company ethics and working conditions
We are happy to share we have been awarded a Silver Medal by EcoVadis, making us a frontrunner in the lighting industry. We’re glad to see our ongoing efforts in sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) recognised by an independent monitor.
EcoVadis is the leading solution for monitoring sustainability in global supply chains. Companies are assessed on 4 themes: environment, labour & human rights, ethics, sustainable procurement. Delta Light exceeds the industry average in each theme, scoring particularly well in labour & human right and ethics.
The assessment chapter ‘environment’ focuses on themes such as energy consumption, water, pollution and waste. Key strengths of Delta Light put forward by EcoVadis include our policies and action on renewable energy and waste management, raising us above the standards set by the lighting industry.
The EcoVadis report applauds our 100% renewable energy and waste management policies.
The vast roof surface of the Delta Light HQ buildings, where we have our production site, is covered with 2534 solar panels. These account for about 90% of our electricity use. The additional energy that we purchase from our net provider is 100% renewable as well.
EcoVadis applauds our waste management policies we’ve set in place, such as our handling of aluminium scrap. Many of our luminaires are created from aluminium profiles. We optimize the usage of these profiles, however waste is inevitable. As aluminium is 100% recyclable, all aluminium waste is collected for recycling.
2. Labour & human rights
Labour and human rights focuses on topics from working conditions and employee health and safety to diversity and human rights. EcoVadis praises our efforts in providing a healthy, safe and balanced environment for all employees.
That includes health and safety training programmes, flexible work organisation and health care coverage of employees. As well as the labour and human rights policies we have installed, such as our diversity and antidiscrimination charters.
The ethics evaluation treats the topics of corruption, anticompetitive practices and responsible information management, which mainly judges the policies in place.
Our policies on information and corruption security and our installed whistle-blower procedure to report ethics issues have earned us a high score, far above industry average.
The Silver Medal by EcoVadis confirms our position as a frontrunner in the lighting industry in corporate social responsibility.
4. Sustainable procurement
The chapter on sustainable procurement focuses on the evaluation of suppliers on their efforts in CSR and on purchasing policies. Among other actions, at Delta Light we have sustainable procurement policies in place, that cover environmental and social factors.
About corporate social responsibility (CSR)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the continuing commitment to act responsibly by integrating social and environmental concerns into business operations.
About the EcoVadis methodology
The EcoVadis methodology framework assesses companies' policies and actions as well as their published reporting related to the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
EcoVadis assessments focus on 21 issues, grouped into 4 themes (Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement).
The 21 issues or criteria are based upon international CSR standards such as the Global Compact Principles, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard, the ISO 26000 standard, and the CERES principles.
